The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Henderson County is proud to help sponsor the 2nd annual Bark for Life, a local relay fundraising event that honors the care giving qualities of our canine “Best Friends”. This relay presents an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships and to contribute to cancer cures via the mission of the American Cancer Society.  The event will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 from 9:30 am—12:00 pm on Main St. in Downtown Hendersonville between 4th and 5th Ave.  Bark for Life is a fun filled half day for canine companions and their two legged family members to come together for a walk, demonstrations, contests, and games all in the name of fun and fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s fight against all forms of cancer.   Please join us that day as HVH is a sponsor and will have a booth at the event with information, a Science Diet food Raffle, as well as other goodies for your canine companion. 

This event allows human and animal cancer survivors to celebrate “Another year of Birthdays” thanks to the funds raised for cancer research. If you cannot make the event yourself there are numerous ways you can aid the fight against cancer, including online dontions (www.relayforlife.org/barkhenderson), or stop by our office and drop a few quarters in the collection canisters we have at the front desk. Preregistration is $20.00, and event day registration is $25.00, you can register online or by mail. Registered parties  receive a t-shirt and event bag. Additionally, there are 4 levels of sponsorship which support the event and cancer research. Lastly, if you would like to honor a cancer survivor or remember a loved one lost to cancer, you can purchase a Bloominaria, a small potted plant which  will be labeled with names and displayed the day of the event; bloominaria will be available for pickup and replanting after the event.
